Wednesday January 13, 2010 was my son Dale's birthday. He turned 4! We are living in a hotel room right now because of my husband Jason's rotation with the Indian Health Service in Cherokee, NC. I still insisted on making his cake though, and since we had no oven I used my crockpot. Next time I would put a cake pan in the crockpot. It cooked okay, tasted good, but one side was a little burnt and it stuck to the crock. Because it stuck it fell apart and I turned it into a dirt cake. Dale loved the gummy worms and it definitely looked convincing as a pile of mud and dirt so I guess it was a success. We had dinner at Pizza Hut and then went back to the hotel for cake. The hotel staff had given Dale a book for his birthday earlier that day. It was a good day.
