Hot Air Balloon Festival December 4th, 2010

We woke up early on Saturday morning to go see the balloons take off at Red Rock State Park. Unfortunately for us the balloonists were not super early risers that day. A few balloons were up for the dawn patrol. However even though the mass ascension was scheduled for 7:30am (we got there about 7) the majority did not get in the air until 8:30 or so. And it was really cold! The kids complained about the cold but once the balloons really started going up they were okay. It was Dale's fault he wore rain boots instead of his super warm snow boots anyway!
The whole crew.
Looking at the balloons
William was there, probably warmer than anyone else.
"Look mom!"
The flames are heating up the helium
One took off right next to us (that blue head is Dale)
It's remax! This tickled me just because their logo is a balloon and there it was in person.
It's the sick kitty balloon. Or that was how our kids referred to it. Every time Emma saw it in another place she said "look mom there is another sick kitty ballon". No honey, that is the same one, it is just moving!
We got a good view of many balloons from the parking lot on our way back to the car.

And just for a better idea of how many balloons there were, a photograph from the road as we were driving away. And this isn't even all of them!
