I often wonder what goes through my children's heads when they say some of the things they say. I ask them to pick up the toys and clothes on their floor and get two different responses with the same result. Dale complains, waits in his room for several minutes, then comes out and asks to do something else. I check his efforts and find nothing or almost nothing picked up. Dale's response is usually something like "Mom I forgot" or possibly "Mom, I don't know what to do when you say to pick up." Emma tries a different approach. She comes out maybe two minutes later saying she is done. "Did you pick up your whole room?" I ask. She nods her head with a smile. Upon checking of course nothing is done. Her answer "Mom I just pretended to clean up".
This morning Emma was irritated at something and gave William a gentle smack on the top of the head. "Emma please don't hit your brother."
"Mom, I wasn't hitting him, I was giving him a kiss with hand."
Grammie said comments were not working for her so am just checking.
